Innovation World Large Caps

September 2021

Cheniere Energy, Inc. is a global energy company headquartered in Houston, Texas. The company develops, builds, and operates two LNG (liquefied natural gas) facilities on the U.S. Gulf Coast that process billions of cubic feet of natural gas per day into LNG.

Focus on Innovation

The company focuses on product and process innovations in the energy sector, more specifically in the field of liquefied natural gas. Cheniere was able to set a new standard in the LNG industry with the Sabine Pass Liquefaction Plant (SPL) on the Texas-Louisiana border. Since 2016, more than 1,000 loads have been produced reliably and safely. This has supplied factories and households around the world. With five liquefaction plants already in operation, each capable of producing approximately 5 million tons per year of LNG, a sixth plant is under construction. Upon planned completion of the 6th plant in Q1 2022, SPL’s total nominal production capacity is expected to be approximately 30 million tons of LNG per year.

Every month ALPORA presents an ALPORA Top Innovator for each innovation fund. For each company, a detailed innovation analysis was carried out based on the ALPORA-Methods and the resulting innovation efficiency score was determined.
